  Tip: about hostas....and keeping the slugs off them Reply Quote Here is a wonderful garden tip that involves recycling: if you have hostas rinse out and dry your egg shells, crush them using anything that will break them up (I have a piece of a broom handle and I accumulate the egg shells in a large empty coffee can) and scatter the crushed egg shells around your hostas. Slugs will slit their bellies trying to get to the hosta. Works like a charm. LOL ...no beer wasted. I just did all my hosta plants tonight. Live and learn, as it keeps life interesting!
