The Duck WIP (work in progress photos)

Here are some WIP of my one and only sculpture attempt for this summer.
I tried to follow the KISS rule since I am not artistic.

Spraying this required 4 hands and I needed two cans of spray insulation. The second can was a different brand and terrible stuff to work with. Grrr....melted marshmellows comes to mind.

Here it is after a bit of cleaning up once the insulation was dry.

I had to bring it back to the city since my tufa supplies were here. I made this temporary stand using styrofoam and duct tape. My concern was that it would tip over on me but I added some stones and that worked like a charm.

Once I started applying my mixture I remembered my design flaw from my previous attempt at a sculpture...this time it wasn't so bad. It's a couple of hours since I covered it with plastic and so far so good.

Once it's cured I will add eyes, and then I will mix up moss and buttermilk in a blender to apply...just one of those ideas that came to mind one night. Originally I was going to try to do it mosaic style, but real life 101 has me swamped and I need to get this done and move on to other things. If I am not pleased with the end result then next summer I can go back and rework this piece with a different finish.  ;)

Lady Helen you are sooooo creative! Did you fill the wire with the insulation or did you coat it and then cut it away to shape it? It looks really good and I can't wait to see it with eyes and moss.

I sprayed the foam inside. Definitely you need 4 hands to fill something like this, and  I speak from experience.

The straw you attach to the nozzle on the first can (brand name DAP) fit threw the wire mesh, not true for the second brand that I had to buy out of necessity.

Tip: Make sure you wear old clothes that you are willing to trash if need be.

Update: After transporting the duck to the cottage I had to do 2 repairs.

Unfortunately I finished it a bit too late to be able to get moss to grow on it, so for now I just added a red bow so Evie isn't naked!
