New here, first post and finished project

Hi everyone, I've noticed that it's been pretty quiet on all the boards that I frequent so I'm guessing that everyone is just busy working on their gardens and projects.  I've needed new wreaths for my front doors and just couldn't decide what to do.  I couldn't find any that were in my budget and big enough for my doors.  So here's what I did. I used some old wire that I had laying around an fashioned two circles.  Then I cut yellow Dollar General bags into strips and tied them on until both were full.  Then I discovered some fake ivy I had lying around and wired that on where the strips were tied on.  They came out so cute and really show up from the street.  I wish I could post a picture here. But I only have the picture on my hard drive and it's not wanting to let me insert one.  Anyway, I got new wreaths that didn't cost me a thing and used up some of those plastic bags that were laying around.

Hi Cindy and welcome to Garden Junk... it has been quiet here, but hopefully with all the new ones who are signing up it will liven up a bit...we now have close to 700 members of which many are lurkers...I would love for everyone to introduce themselves and post...

If you are having problems with pics, it is probably because they are too large. Try resizing them and making smaller.  Would love to see your wreaths....

Here is a direct link to a picture of them, http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn156/CMeisenheimer/IMAG0011.jpg since I couldn't figure out what size to make them and border, etc., etc.   I was really pleased with how they turned out.  And considering that our house has green siding and green shutters, it definately needed another color!  LOL.  I too am looking forward to hearing what everyone's been up too.  I'm always on the lookout for more ideas.  Right now I'm trying to get the tipsey pots and they're plants to co-operate so they start looking like some of the pictures I've seen!

Thank you, yes, it was a lot of work.  But it was something that I could do in the evenings while watching tv.  I would spend one evening cutting strips and putting them in a big plastic bag and the next evening tieing them all on the wreaths. I kept doing that until I had run out dollar general bags and the wreaths were full.  Near the end, I was looking for things to buy there just so I could get that last 1 or 2 bags!  LOL  Then I hung them in the office and fluffed them out and started trying to decide if I was going to decorate them more.  That was when I remembered a big plastic container of fake flowers and floral stuff that I'd bought at an auction last year.  I drug that out and into the office and went through it all.  I found the ivy and thought perfect!  DH helped me hang them on the doors when I was all finished.  My mother, who lives with us, and dh both thought I had lost my mind when I was working on it but they soon changed their tune when they saw them hung up.  My mother even had to take some pictures with her digital camera to send to relatives.  Now that it's all done, on to the next project, totems!
